towards the beginning it was very unpredictable it was we're going to school today and then that same night we get a notification that school going to be closed for either day or the next 48 for the next two weeks so I think that was really difficult my kids personally really like being here and I like going to school when I started coming to school and now I go outside I'm the better experience now cuz before we were just remote I started forgetting the experience of going into school is going to be hit on the hardest part of the year has been all the curve balls that keep coming our way and all the changes that been happening with the social distancing or going to just be ready to do 3 ft tell your classes going to change around this year so you know this has been a lot of changes and it's always difficult as a teacher to deal with that but also for the children to measure something with one of the things that I really was on my mind during the summer was just the safety of my staff and the safety of my kids and that weighed heavily on me and I definitely wanted to create an environment where of my teachers and my staff will feel safe as well as my I know it's important for our teachers to be able to come to work and be able to teach and our students to be able to come to school and learn both school year teaching during a global pandemic a lot of the Arts we did this year asynchronously I think I get a lot of my energy from being around the students and from seeing their reactions to things and and hearing laughter and see Smiles luckily we have incredible school where the classroom teachers call the kids to you know had trouble getting onto Google Classroom trouble getting onto zoom and all seem like so much to do a year ago but really we all pull together and it was just it was a team we have a strong Foundation here at PS 249 about how to teach and so I think that if you know how to teach and you know how to reach children you can do it in person or you can do it through Xoom search for them because developmentally they're not really able to sit the whole school day without interacting and typical years there's a lot of movement built into the school day intentionally we move move move move to the carpet to the table to do this to this to your partner and all of that movement is just part of it and all of those different types of interaction and this year everybody has to sit in their own table and work independently I think that's hard because they're 5 years old usually for the regular years that I've been here we serve the children here on online last year it was very hectic cuz we had to put in bag and some days and becoming you know it's really hectic oh my least favorite part of this year was probably remote cuz like now we're doing like a remote school trip to Washington DC and I actually really wanted to go to Washington DC. I'd like to get them ready for the state test it was definitely challenging So reading and writing was definitely not the same especially with writing because as soon as I get in the computer and they're really getting used to typing and refer her name is j a school I don't have writing paper at home but I have everything at school I learned a lot of things like a usually when we come to school I only know the mean teacher really don't know about the decide that he should know I learned a lot of things they were working so hard like you know is that the mean teachers usually when we have our PTA meeting so during the school year the attendance sometimes it's very low what I was able to see was that our attendance was a lot higher being able to have our meeting virtually via Zoom it allows parents to attend meetings from home I think parents engagement is important that's my child going to school and I want to know how they're being taught what they're being taught I was able to see a lot of the things she was learning and how the teachers navigated with the classroom and zoom and then the breakout room but having to move these children to do different groups and it was so commendable so commendable a part of this year was when I get to see like some of my friend and her mom at school cuz some of my friends I don't see them that much and I could see their faces I think the students are going to be fully equipped and ready to take on the technological change for the future the collective efficacy among the staff in the building I'm really grateful for that because everyone has a talent that they could bring to the table for the sake of the children we could put all of our talents together to really make for a great school and to do what we had to do to service the students and their families
