Promotional Criteria

WHAT DOES YOUR CHILD NEED TO BE ABLE TO DO TO BE PROMOTED TO THE NEXT GRADE LEVEL?

 
Here is the minimum promotional criteria for what you need to work on so that your child can move to the next grade level. Your child’s teacher can provide you with specific details and resources to help your child succeed.

 

Kindergarten

  1. Independent Reading at Level D or above
  2. Narrative Writing Piece - Level 3
  3. End of Year Math Test – (19/25)
  4. Knows alphabet letters and sounds (Letters 50/54 and Sounds 25/28)
  5. Sight Words – knows a minimum of 36 
  6. Read CVC words (ex: pig, fox, mat)

Grade 1

  1. Independent Reading at Level I/J/K or above
  2. Independent Writing - Narrative Writing Piece (Level 3 or higher)
  3. Independent Writing - Informational Writing Piece (Level 3 or higher)
  4. End of Year Math Average - Level 3 or Higher
  5. Meets benchmarks on grade level portfolio (ELA, Writing, Math & Classwork in all subject portfolio)

Grade 2 

  1. Independent Reading at Level M or above
  2. Independent Writing - Narrative Writing Piece (Level 3 or higher)
  3. Independent Writing - Informational Writing Piece (Level 3 or higher)
  4. Grade 2 Benchmark on iReady End of Year Reading Diagnostic 
  5. Grade 2 Benchmark on iReady End of Year Math Diagnostic
  6. Meets benchmarks on grade level portfolio (ELA, Writing, Math & Classwork in all subject portfolio)

 

Grade 3

  • Reading at Level P or above

  • Writing at least 1 ½ pages independently

  • Take and pass all state exams

  • Meets benchmarks on grade level portfolio (ELA, Writing, Math, & Classwork in all subject areas)

 

Grade 4

  • Reading at T Level or above

  • Writing at least 2 pages independently

  • Take and pass all state exams

  • Meets benchmarks on grade level portfolio (ELA, Writing, Math, & Classwork in all subject areas)

 

Grade 5

  • Reading at Level V or above

  • Writing at least 3 pages independently

  • Take and pass all state exams

  • Meets benchmarks on grade level portfolio (ELA, Writing, Math, & Classwork in all subject areas)
