PS 249 is a pre-k through fifth grade elementary school on here in Brooklyn and we want to push the kids academically but we also want to see how they can succeed in the art how we can help him social emotionally so we really believe in a well-balanced education for kids going to be many people in the school who know your kid and who are rooting for your kid thing I love most about the school is really put kids first primarily because our ministration and our teachers and our powers and every staff member truly believes that all children can succeed how do you say that their goal is to make sure that every child leave here reading they mean it we believe that as early as Pre-K if we give it to him a solid foundation in literacy and math that they can achieve anything School fall this song theme way says college starts in kindergarten and they really mean that we get better learn more professionally and we don't look at it student whether they may be an enl student speak a different language or student with a disability we don't look at them as deficient we know that they can achieve as long as we do the work to provide for them my daughter came into the school barely reading and now it is is probably one of the biggest highlights for me as a parent that my five-year-olds reading books to my two year olds and it shows are whatever the teachers are doing they're doing a magnificent job second grade and kindergarten teachers are awesome Pre-K kindergarten teachers are some of the most loving people you'll ever meet every teacher is kind to you and they give you the opportunity to learn we offer regular general education classes we offer ITT classes we also offer on 12 11 flashlight classes enls classes and bilingual classes we really have a lot of the Arts in the school cuz we have Art Club we have Debate Club we had theater we have two Auditors we also have two physical Edge case teachers we have a theater teacher a music teacher STEM Science and Spanish in our school in particular and I for closing the achievement Gap has also served at the Lighthouse for the community and for families from all walks of life whether you know you speak Spanish French Creole man. and there's always translation available one of the strengths of our school is educating our children who are not native speakers of English can we really can offer a child the right placement for whatever them gift West Aquila electric Studio billing web for epoxy malamente we have self-contained classrooms where the children who don't speak English at home are taught by an Eno teacher but the regular curriculum so by the time kids get to 3rd or 4th and 5th grade they usually test out of being all services diverse and everyone's culture and everyone feels accepting happy and most importantly safe because it's not just a matter of academically teaching them which we do very well we set them up for success in literacy and for mathematics and for science and social studies but also there's like a culture of acceptance as a picture of love we support the children we support the parents the kids here are known as individuals I would definitely tell parents sending out their child here and it's really a special place where I really think that we may all students feel welcome and feel love like it's a big family
